What we hold about guests

The couple builds their own guest list, so names, postal addresses and any contact details usually come from them. A guest may also give us an email address or phone number themselves by scanning the code on a save-the-date.

Every attending person is a separate record, including children and infants. That is how meal counts and seating work, not a profile we build on anyone.

Text messages, and the record behind them

We only ever text a number whose owner typed it in themselves. A number the couple entered for you is used for their own reference and is never messaged by us.

When someone does opt in, we record three things together:

• when they agreed
• the IP address they agreed from
• the exact wording that was on the screen at the time

We keep every past version of that wording, unchanged, so we can always show what a particular person actually saw rather than what the page says today.

Stopping messages

Reply STOP to any text and we stop. That applies across the whole platform, not just the wedding you heard from — if a friend’s wedding and a cousin’s wedding both use Perseid, one STOP covers both, immediately.

Opting out is recorded rather than erased. We keep opt-out records for ten years, because we have to be able to prove we honoured them.

Photographs

Photos uploaded to a wedding page have their embedded metadata removed before the file reaches our storage. That matters because phone photos are frequently tagged with the location they were taken, and engagement photos are often taken at home.

We do not keep the original file. Only the resized, stripped versions are stored.

Who else sees any of this

Wedding suppliers never receive the guest list. A caterer gets meal counts and dietary flags with no names on them. Where a supplier genuinely cannot do their job without names — a photographer’s family-photo list, a shuttle manifest — the couple grants that one thing specifically, it is logged, and they can withdraw it.

People helping the couple see names and replies. They do not see contact details unless the couple turns that on.

Where it lives

Data is stored in the United States with DigitalOcean. Email is sent through SMTP2GO, payments are handled by Stripe, and we never see or store card details.
